Review : Sankai Japanese Restaurant

Was drawn to the "all-you-can-eat Japanese Buffet" notice and decided to try it.

Opening hours: Opens from 1130am to 11pm

Address: 1 Liang Seah St, Singapore 189022
Price: $29.80++ (lunch daily)
          $34.90++ (Sun to Thur Dinner)
          $37.90++ (Fri, Sat, eve of PH Dinner)

The ambience is warm and cozy. The restaurant is a little small though. It's best to go there during non-peak hours as they don't have enough servers to cope with the growing number of customers.

First dish: chawanmushi! There was shitake mushroom, spinach, and fish cake.

Sashimi salad. Kinda disappointing. a few pieces of sashimi and the lettuce were like, the unwanted parts?

Sashimi and appetizer platter. Salmon sashimi was ok; quite thick and sweet. The smoked duck was delicious and the meat was tender.

Grilled Salmon with salt and Shishamo. Normal, nothing much to wow about.

Salmon mentai aburi.

Salmon sushi, prawn roe and spicy salmon. Quite disappointing that the prawn roe was not filled to the brim.

Soft shell crab handroll. Can't tell right? The soft shell crab was like, only 1/4 of the whole crab? Pathetic. :(

Chicken stewer. Not bad, the meat was tender and was lightly seasoned with teriyaki sauce.

Deep-fried selection: Breaded prawns, prawn tempura, Shishamo kara age and tako yaki.

Cold tofu.

Sashimi - Salmon, Hamachi, Tako, Sweet Prawns, and Seasoned Top Shell.

Chicken wing.

Sashimi - Tuna, lightly Seared Salmon, Cuttlefish.

The items are topped with 4 different seasonings. There is original, chinese spices (some sort of ma la spices), spiced salt (salt and pepper), teriyaki tare, and spicy miso kimchi. On the order list, there will be options that you can choose under each item. However, not all items can choose the type of seasoning to your preference.

I prefer the Spiced Salt and Teriyaki Tare. Both non-spicy and can bring out the flavours of the food.

The ranking of spiciness is : Spiced Salt, Teriyaki Tare, Chinese Spices then Spicy Miso Kimchi.

Review : BBQ Box 串烧工坊 (Geylang outlet)

No buffet style in BBQ Box but at least it's something different. There are 4 options - extra salt, extra chilies, extra cummins and non spicy. The spice that they used is ma la.

The cheapest stick costs $1. The food are already cooked and the so-called box is to re-heat the food, which is kinda slow as they only light up one candle that is in the centre. If you are not a big eater and don't mind waiting for the cold food to be heated up, this place is just right.

Review : Kose Suncut UV Protect Spray

Bought this Kose Suncut UV Protect Spray (aquary floral) in Japan.

Protection against the sun is high:
SPF 50+
PA++++

It does smell good, floral and not some chemical smell. However, it leave behind a oily film on my face. It doesn't adsorb after a few minutes or after an hour. I had to wipe it off cuz it really felt uncomfortable.

Wouldn't recommend to buy.
